Well, this doll is…. something.
For starters, we hope Santa is taking notes already, because we reckon this new My Mini doll, which you can already pre-order in Ireland, is about to shoot straight to the top of many a wish list this festive season.
In case you haven’t yet come across it on social media, Zuru, a Hong Kong-based toy company, just released their latest creation: A Barbie-style doll who just also happens to be pregnant.

But – and here’s the twist – unlike many other pregnant doll toys, the Zuru has a removable tummy, which you then can wriggle to reveal a small plastic baby curled up inside a clear squishy sac that looks to be filled with slime.
You know – kind of like the amniotic sac.
And honestly, it is…. something.
No postpartum recovery time for this doll
Essentially, with this doll, your child will get to perform a sort of a C-section by yanking the baby out from the mummy doll’s tummy. They then have to squeeze and tug at the slime-filled sac to get it to burst open, so the baby can be pushed out.
Now, so far, so almost realistic, I guess.
Less realistic, however, is the mum doll’s postpartum recovery – where all you have to do is flip her belly around to reveal a taut, tight Pilates-honed mid-section that gives no indication she just had a baby.
And this feature has ended up sparking the most hilarious reactions from mums online.
‘Can’t decide if this is educational or terrifying’
Earlier in the week, UK-based mum and content creator Louise Boyce posted an unforgettable video of the doll’s capabilities on her Instagram account, @mamastillgotit_.
After her demonstration, Boyce cuts to her shocked face and says:
‘I do have a question. Where’s Ken?’
She also adds:
‘If she could share her fitness routine, regime, that would be great because those abs after a C-section … Damn.’
And the comment section, understandably, did not disappoint.
‘I can’t decide if this is educational or terrifying or a bit of both,’ someone wrote.
Another mum chimed in with:
‘My two C-sections were NOTHING like this. I had to take my jacket off.’
And a third mum simply wrote:
‘Waiting for the postpartum Barbie who looks pregnant and mildly depressed for months after, mascara running down her face and hair in a messy top knot.’
Irish content creator @totallyruthess43 also shares a hilarious take on the doll:
@totallyruthless43 This is crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣#totallyruthless @Smyths Toys Superstores ♬ original sound – Ruth
After dissecting the entire video with her hilarious remarks, the Irish TikToker ends her video with:
‘Typical Barbie! Beach-ready five seconds after having a baby! She’ll go for a run now. Actually, that is a hard no from me!’
