Little-known Irish name that is on the rise
So we did a little digging for you and spotted a gorgeous Irish name WAY down the trending lists, and despite it being on the rise, it’s the perfect choice for parents who want a unique name for their baby boy.
The name is Fáelán, and it was given to just 6 baby boys in 2025. This is a gorgeous and ancient Irish name which translates to ‘little wolf’ and comes from the Old Irish fáel, meaning wolf.

Pronounced fay-lawn or fway-lawn, Fáelán was ranked 509th of all baby boys born in Ireland in 2025. Six babies isn’t a lot, that’s for sure, but this year is actually the first year that the name placed on the list.
In previous years, it was given to fewer than three babies, so the exact number is unavailable due to confidentiality reasons.
But it’s such a cute name and with an adorable meaning, we think it is the perfect choice for nature loving parents. Would you consider it for your baby boy?
