A woman is stuck between two names for her baby, one of which is Irish but people have advised her not to pick it.
Choosing a name for your baby is a momentous task; there is so much thought that goes into it. Some people want to choose a meaningful name with ties to a special place, their heritage or a loved one. Others are more drawn to trendy names, unusual monikers or titles inspired by the time of year that their little one is born.
One woman, is ‘planning a baby’ in the next year wants to honour her husband’s Swedish heritage with their name, but after her sister said that the baby would get bullied because of it, she is considering an Irish place name instead, taken from her own ‘ties to Ireland’

Irish name woman-to-be is considering
The name is Ennis, a place in County Clare, but she is concerned that the little boy will get called ‘penis’ in school. Taking to the baby names section of Reddit, she explained: ‘I’m currently planning for a baby in the next year and have been looking at names since I love baby names. I’m mostly Swedish with my dad’s side of the family still living there, and love Swedish names. However I currently live in the States, so have to be mindful of that.
The woman continued: ‘My favorite name for a boy is Emil (Eh-mill) as I grew up loving the books by Astrid Lindgren. However my sister and a family friend both made fun of the name saying he’d be called “E-mail”. Is this a concern? Is the name really that bad? My second choice was Ennis since I have ties to Ireland, but I didn’t want my kid to be called “Penis”.’

Both names easy targets for bullies
The post racked up the comments, with many people sharing their opinions on both names. The general consensus was to choose Emil, as a child named Ennis may get bullied.
‘Emil is a solid name, and it’s much better than Ennis. I think people will only need told how to say it once,’ said one person. ‘Emily is a popular name, so I don’t think Emil will be teased as much as an Ennis,’ another added, while a third said: ‘Emil is much better than Ennis but I can see both those names easy targets for bullies’.
