Rachel Gorry has marked her late husband Daniel’s anniversary, with a moving and emotional social media post.
Daniel died six years ago from oesophageal cancer, when their three children, Leah, Holly and Hannah were aged nine, five and three. April 1st is always a tough day for Rachel and her family as they continue to grieve their loss.
Reflecting on their life together, Rachel shared a montage of special family moments and admitted that although the memories are ‘amazing’ to look back on, on this day in particular, they ‘break’ her.

Alongside the montage, in which we can see the childhood sweethearts together as teenagers and moments as they grew their young family, Rachel reflected on their memories.
‘I miss you so much. I look back at pictures and of us as teenagers and they make me smile as I look back at all the amazing memories we’ve made in your short 29 years, but today they break me,’ she poignantly began.
‘I look back at how small the girls were and I can’t believe how much they’ve grown. Holly’s the age we were when we first met and I think back to you stinking of Joop with that diamond earring. I smile with tears streaming down my face, at you saying what was I thinking! Every picture, every video holds so many memories that I will cherish forever.’

Finishing her heartbreaking post, Rachel said that she sees Daniel in their girls ‘every single day’.
‘We miss you, we love you, and we’ll hold onto you forever Daniel.’
While Rachel is in a good place now, welcoming twins with her fiancé last year, it is clear that her love for Daniel will be a part of her family’s life forever. She previously opened up about how close she still is with her late husband’s parents, revealing that they met her newborn twins shortly after their birth.
‘It always surprises people how involved my in-laws are in my life. They are my family and they always will be.’
Rachel continued, reflecting on her history with Daniel’s parents: ‘I met them when I was 12 years old and they are like a second mam and dad to me. I couldn’t imagine them not being a massive part of my life.
‘I love them like parents, and we see each other most days, they are very involved in our lives and I wouldn’t have it any other way.’
