Lucy Kennedy has opened up about the best Christmas present she has ever received, saying it was perfect for her because she was ‘born broody’.

The TV star and mum-of-three appeared on The Six O’Clock Show on Wednesday, where she was promoting the return of The North Portal on behalf of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation

Speaking to host Brian Dowling, the author, who looked stunning in a €25 Dunnes Stores Christmas jumper, said she still remembers how excited she was to receive one gift in particular on Christmas morning.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, I remember it like it was yesterday,” Lucy began.

“I was born broody. I was that little girl that always had loads of little dolls and was pushing prams around and all that.

“One year, I remember I asked Santa for a big baby doll. So it was like the original Baby Annabel, which is in your future by the way,” she said to Brian, who has two girls, Blake and Blu with husband Arthur Gourounlian

Lucy went on to say that the doll, whom she named Amy, was so big she could barely carry her and sweetly revealed that she was her ‘best friend for about five years’.

“I loved her,” she said.

Lucy wasn’t going to get caught out when Brian asked her to name the worst present she’s ever received, saying she’s yet to get a present she didn’t love.

“I don’t care what it is. I’ll always find a use for something. But if someone got me some gym equipment I might be a little bit offended,” she said.

Elsewhere in the chat, Lucy spoke about her family plans for the festive period, saying she and her kids love to snuggle up together and watch Elf on the TV.

“It’s funny, it’s silly,” she said.
“They just love Will Ferrell, they just love the silliness, they love that he’s so embarrassing, he’s basically me as an elf.”

Speaking to Evoke.ie earlier in the week, Lucy, who is mum to three children, Jack (15), Holly (12), and Jess (eight), said she still sends out Christmas cards.

In fact, she sends out 25 Christmas cards every year to her nearest and dearest, with her youngest daughter helping her out this year with the posting.

“It’s a lovely feeling when you get a Christmas card and open it up,” she said.

Lucy may be an extremely busy woman but she’s also very organised, revealing that she started doing her Christmas shopping in September and has been throwing “bits into my trolley every week during the shop” since November.

“I just love Christmas so much- I’ve had my tree up since the last week of November,” she said.
