A therapist has caused some controversy online over the things that she would never let her children do, with many parents completely disagreeing.
As parents, we do the best we can for our children, and make important choices based on the information and education we have.
A family therapist, who posts on social media under the name Dr Bree, has shared the three things she will never let her children do, and her reasons, and it has caused a huge debate in the comments.
Three things this family therapist would never let her children do
1. Let them cry alone
The first thing Dr Bree says she would never do is let her children cry alone. ‘While they are still under your roof, why are they crying alone?’ she asked. ‘It doesn’t matter what has gine on, doesn’t matter what the fight is about. If they are crying, you need to be a calm presence and go check on them and see how you can provide them with support and unconditional love.’

2. Let siblings bathe together
Many siblings who are close in age and the same gender grew up bathing together, but this is a big no to Dr Bree, and one of her most controversial opinions. She says that it is something she sees a lot from infancy to children who are five or six years old, and it is something that she completely disagrees with.
‘It doesn’t matter if they’re the same gender, the same sex. It does not matter if one’s an infant.’ Dr Bree continues saying that it ‘starts to get kids curious about someone else’s body.
‘You don’t want children curious about somebody else’s body. Be curious about your own body, totally fine. Don’t be curious about somebody else’s.’

3. Let them sleep over at anyone else’s house
The final thing that Dr Bree says she would never do is allow her child to sleep at anyone else’s house, no matter who they are.
Explaining, she said that she has worked with a large number of people who have been ‘perpetrated on’ while at a sleepover. ‘Even misplaced curiosity is what we call it, between neighbours, even cousins, between siblings when there is a sleepover is insane.’
She continued, saying that your children will ‘likely never ever tell you’ because they are afraid of getting in trouble and they don’t want to lose ‘the privilege of staying in someone else’s house.
Dr Bree urges parents to never let their children have a sleepover, no matter whose house it is.

Divided opinions
The comments on the video were divided, and while some agreed, some people not did not like the rules at all. ‘Definitely disagree with the bathing thing!! Actually makes kids more curious when it is so forbidden,’ one person said, while another added: ‘My twins would be extremely confused if we suddenly refused to let them bathe together.’
‘Super receptive to everything you’re sharing but I’m just flabbergasted by the first. Why can’t children be curious about bodies? You simply explain boundaries and respect if it ever becomes an issue but are you seriously suggesting that children in the same family are not naked in sight of each other? Do you have children of your own?’ a third asked.
Others asked if she would allow sleepovers at grandparents’ houses, to which Dr Bree replied that she wouldn’t.
