Donal Skehan and his family welcomed friends Arthur Gourounlian, Brian Dowling and their two children, Blake and Blu, over to their home to enjoy the April sunshine, and things got a little chaotic, to say the least.
The celebrity chef put on a delicious-looking spread for his guests, including barbecued meats, seasoned potato cubes and boujie salad, and for dessert a lemon drizzle cake.
Donal enlisted the help of his son Oliver, four, and Brian and Arthur’s little girl blake, four, something he lived to regret. Donal has spent countless hours in the kitchen, but we don’t think he has had an experience quite like this before.

Sharing a video of the chaos that ensued on his Instagram Story, the dad-of-two said: ‘Don’t recommend icing with a 6 and 4 year old in tow’.
Arthur shared a full video of what transpired, saying ‘LEMON DRIZZLE CAKE gone wrong with uncle [Donal] and anyone who has baked or cooked with young children will sympathise with Donal’s plight. In the clip, the two children who seem to be great pals are completely wired as they ‘help’ Donal add icing to the bake.
There’s squealing, shouting, crying and everything else – with much laughter from the parents who don’t have the responsibility of wrangling hyper little ones.
Donal, on the other hand, looks incredibly stressed as he whisks the icing and tries to instruct the kids how to properly ice the cake. But it’s all in vein it seems.

Blake is laughing, Ollie is saying ‘poo poo’ none of them are doing the ‘fairytale peaks’ Donal wants and both are sneaking tastes of icing before it makes it to the cake.
To top it off they are instructed to flick spoons of raspberry curd over the top and we could see it a mile away, this was a disaster waiting to happen. The curd went everywhere which both kids found hilarious, and how can we blame them?!
‘Thank you so much, that’s enough everybody,’ Donal finished with a laugh as he got to perfecting the cake alone, probably the way he likes it.
People loved the video, commenting on how hilarious it was and sharing their sympathies with Donal. ‘Donals blood pressure through the roof!!’ Pippa O’Connor said while someone else added: ‘Is Donal on the plane back to his yoga retreat’.
A third chimed in with ‘Best fairytale poos I’ve ever seen on a cake’ and Donal himself said that his ‘doctor has prescribed bed rest’.
