by Louise Porter / 3 months ago

Megan McKenna has admitted that she isn’t feeling to happy about her son’s latest milestone, but mums will relate.

Babies reaching milestones is such an exciting time for parents, and it can be quite important too. Although all children develop at their own pace, some milestones can be a helpful guide for parents to see whether their baby is developing as they should.

Many of us eagerly anticipate milestones, especially as first-time parents, but they can be bittersweet. Although our baby’s first words, steps etc are wonderful, they also mean that our little one has moved onto a new stage, leaving another behind.

Mum-of-one Megan McKenna has revealed that her little boy, Landon, 18 months, has reached a milestone that she wasn’t quite ready for.

Megan McKenna not ready for son’s milestone

Taking to Instagram, Megan revealed that her son had stopped breastfeeding and she wasn’t sure she was happy about it.

‘We’ve had a milestone I’m not sure I’m happy about but I know it’s just Landon growing up and being independent,’ she began the video.

The former TOWIE star went on to say that since her little boy’s recent ear infection, she had ‘stopped feeding from [her]’. She said that at first she thought it was because he was sick but as the days went on he was still ‘not interested in the boob’.

Megan has been breastfeeding Landon for ‘the best 18 months ever’ and she told followers that she has ‘loved’ breastfeeding.

She went on to say that she had already weaned him off feeding in the morning, and she did think that he was only feeding for comfort at this point.

Little Landon seems happy as Larry in the video, chowing down on a hunk of parmesan cheese as his mum joked that he was getting the nutrients ‘elsewhere’ now.

Words of advice

Megan shared some advice for followers who may be starting out on their own breastfeeding journeys and finding it difficult, saying: ‘When I started breastfeeding Landon it was so hard, it was probably one of the hardest and most painful things I had to go through.’

‘But I’m so glad I didn’t give up, once you get through this stage, it will be the easiest thing in the world,’ she said, recalling advice from her own mum that helped her get through.

People praised her in the comments, with some joking that she has been ‘replaced by cheese’. ‘Well he has Parmesan cheese now. And cheese is life,’ someone else said.

Others shared their own experiences of finishing breastfeeding and the grief that comes along with it.

‘Breastfeeding grief is so real. My baby chose to stop before I was ready and it broke my heart,’ said one person. Another added: ‘My son stopped independently at 18 months, I was so pleased that he stopped so easily himself but actually so upset.. bittersweet.’

Megan and her fiancé, Scottish footballer Oliver Burke, conceived Landon via IVF after tests found that Megan had a thin womb lining, making it difficult for her to conceive naturally. She previously opened up about the experience, saying: ‘It’s a real rollercoaster going through the stages of IVF, but it’s the best thing we’ve ever done, and we’ve got another embryo on ice ready to go.’
