Louise Cooney has shared a hack for getting her little boy to give up his soother and if you have a child of a similar age then you should definitely take note.
Dodies, soothers, pacifiers – whatever you call them, babies can become very attached to them. So attached, it can be tricky to get them to give them up. Many parents will also struggle with the separation as it is hard to take one of your child’s comfort items away, and it can completely disrupt their sleep too which is bad news for us!
Mum-of-one Louise Cooney said that she felt the time was right for her toddler to give up his dodie, wanting him to be done with them before she starts potty training him next month.
And she has shared a hack that seems to be working a treat.

Louise Cooney shares hack for getting child to give up soother
Taking to Instagram, Louise said that she got the idea from Stefanie Preissner who used it for her toddler recently and it’s been working well. The hack involves getting leaving the soother at a fairy door in your home and then the ‘fairy’ takes the soother and leaves a gift in place.
It’s been just over a week since Louise and her husband Mark Sweeney decided to try the trick. ‘He loves, loved, loved his dodies,’ Louise said of Jude. ‘He still talks about them’.
But she is ‘really glad’ that she bit the bullet and did it. Her little boy wakes up excited to see the present that the fairy has left each day. Although she admitted that she has to end the gifts now because he can’t keep getting presents.
She did clarify that they’re not ‘actual presents’ though. ‘One day they left him strawberries and I think he was most excited by those.’

‘But it’s still time for them to go.’
