There’s a term teen boys are using to describe girls of a similar age and it’s really not something you want to hear from your own children.
As parents, you may have heard of the Manosphere and the toxic descriptions and phrases it has engineered among young adults.
However, there’s now another one and the meaning behind it is worrying.
Young men have been known to use the term ‘foid’ to describe females and the interpretation behind the phrase is that of female robot.
According to The Huffington Post, there have been several instance of teen boys using this phrase to describe teens of the opposite sex, with some mums and dads taking to social media and Reddit to share their concerns.
The worrying term teen boys are using
Meadhbh Park, the author of Blackpilled: Masculinity, Media and Incels, spoke on a podcast this week where she further explained the term and how it’s being used in a derogatory way towards women.
Speaking on the To Be A Boy podcast, she said:
‘I have come across cases where a young person was outwardly saying how women have too much power, and women are stupid, and calling them ‘foid”.
She added:
‘So basically, women have no humanity, they’re actually just stupid robots who go along with what they’re told by the media’.

To know that the term ‘foid’ is essentially describing a female as stupid is a huge concern and this is why parents need to be attuned to the fact that there are all types of new vocabulary emerging amongst teens.
Instead of letting it go over our heads, we need to be vigilant and hyper award of the impact this is having on teens.
As parents will agree, if you hear your child using this phrase it’s time for a very frank conversation.
Instead of simply telling them not to use the term which may not have any impact, and for a short while if at all, you need to talk about the meaning behind it and the damaging consequences it can have.
This isn’t the first time concern has been raised about the language circulating among teen boys.
Other phrases parents may want to keep an eye out for include looksmaxxing, jestermaxxing and mogging – the majority of which relate to appearance.
This goes to show just how much of a focus physical appearance and attractiveness is for the younger generation and why as parents we need to be aware of this and its potentially negative impact on our kids.
