Congratulations are in order for Limerick hurler Shane Dowling and his wife Paula, who have welcomed their second child together.

The couple, who are already parents to Tommy, born in 2023, announced the news on Instagram with a slew of photos of their ‘smallest little man’.

In the snaps, we can see the new parents holding and bonding with their new arrival, as well as ‘best big brother’ Tommy meeting his baby sibling.

Captioning the post, the couple revealed that their baby boy was born on April 13th and confirmed his gorgeous Irish name: Seán Óg.

‘1 week of our smallest little man, Seán Óg, 13/04/2026. Already so loved by the best big brother,’ they wrote.

Seán Óg seems to be an up-and-coming Irish name, which was also chosen by fellow hurler TJ Reid and his wife Niamh de Brún for their little boy back in December 2025. It literally means ‘young Seán’ and is often used as a way to name a baby after a parent or grandparent.

The name Seán Óg was given to 17 babies in Ireland in 2025, placing at number 262 of all baby boys recorded in Ireland, according to the CSO.

Shane and Paula tied the knot in December 2024 at Hotel Doolin in County Clare, surrounded by friends and family, including their one-year-old son (at the time) Tommy.

Congratulations all round!
