Fans have come to Molly-Mae Hague’s defence after she revealed that she had stopped breastfeeding her newborn baby Midas after three weeks.

Molly-Mae and her partner Tommy Fury revealed that they welcomed their second child together on June 3, sharing a clip of the family in the hospital together. They waited a little while before announcing their little one’s name, but there was much speculation in the meantime.

Now the mum has opened up about her breastfeeding journey this time around and the reasons behind her decision to stop.

Why Molly-Mae stopped breastfeeding

In a new YouTube video, the mum admitted that she had actually surpassed her breastfeeding goal and wanted to end the journey ‘on a high’. Talking to her followers, the former Love Island star explained that she wanted to stop breastfeeding now and ‘not get to a point where I resent it and just enjoy it’.

That was her plan all along, Molly-Mae said: ‘I always said I want to leave it on a high. I want to remember these few weeks breastfeeding Midas as a really positive thing.’

She added that the feeds were taking a long time which was making the experience less enjoyable, which is not what she wanted. ‘I kinda got to a point where I was like, “Oh, I’m not really enjoying this that much anymore.” Which, listen, it’s not always meant to be enjoyable, like you do it for them.’

‘I did literally way more than I thought I was gonna do, I thought I would do, like, a day and then be like, “Yeah, no. This isn’t good for me or my mental health,” so I’m really happy that I felt good doing it.’

The mum did note that she was trying not to think about it too much or she would feel ‘guilty’, ‘sad’ and ‘bad’ about her decision and that she was a little ‘nervous’ about what other people would think about her introducing formula to her baby’s diet.

However she was determined not to have the same experience that she had with her daughter Bambi, three, when she let it get to a point that she ‘really, really wasn’t enjoying it anymore’ and putting so much pressure and stress on herself.

Followers took to the comments underneath the video to share their support, calling her a ‘breath of fresh air’.

‘You really don’t give yourself enough credit, you are so genuine and warm. It’s so refreshing to see. Keep being you and don’t apologise for anyone,’ one fan told her while another added: ‘Never feel worried about what other people think about breastfeeding, you’ve done amazing to get as far as you have, you know what’s best for you and your family and it’s nothing to do with anyone else.’

A third person chimed in with: ‘A fed baby is a happy baby that’s all that matters. I managed 3 weeks and about 2 weeks too’.
