Mom Gives Birth in Her Sleep, and Nurses Don’t Find Her Baby Until Minutes Later Under a Pile of Blankets

A mum-of-three has gone viral for her TikTok about giving birth while she was alseep and has now opened up about the ‘traumatising’ experience.

In the video, Carolina Moreno said that it had happened when she gave birth to her third child, who is now three months old. The 27 year old said that she was diagnosed with Group B Strep when she went into the hospital to be induced, meaning she needed antibiotics before labour could begin.

She was already three centimeters dilated at this point which is why they needed to act fast as GBS can be dangerous for baby.

A few hours later her waters were broken and she was given Pitocin to induce labour. She felt ‘uncomfortable’ and asked for the epidural.

When the epidural didn’t seem effective, the mum-of-three pressed the button to administer it three more times and then she was finally feeling comfortable – so comfortable she fell asleep.

She told People that the nurses came in to check on her baby as the monitor that checks the baby’s heart went off ‘several times’.

‘This had happened several times; my baby was very active and he liked to move,’ she told the publication. So she wasn’t too worried about it but at one point, when she was ‘still pretty asleep’ they were unable to locate it and she began to get worried.

‘I started to get worried because obviously she’s not finding him…that’s when I really woke up,’ said Carolina.

The panic then started to set in and Carolina said that her stomach felt ‘really weird’. ‘I don’t know why I just thought, my baby’s dead.’

She then recalled feeling something strange in between her legs and she said in the video that she ‘thought it was gonna be like [her] placenta or [her] uterus had popped out.’

‘I never thought it was going to be my baby. And [the nurse] lifts up the blanket, and my son is face down under all of my blankets.’

She panicked seeing her newborn ‘face down’. ‘Obviously, you see a baby, and he’s not crying, and he’s probably been there for several minutes under blankets, under you. That’s everything a newborn shouldn’t be. So I was really scared. I didn’t think he was alive,’ the mum said.

The nurse quickly picked the baby up and began to rub him and Moreno found herself screaming. Her husband thought he missed the birth but didn’t realise they all had. Even when the nurse got her son to cry Carolina said that she was ‘really traumatised’ and couldn’t process that her baby was actually alright.

@carolina.moreno19 My epidural was DEFINITELY wayyyy too strong but thankful everything worked out. Also a big thank you to the amazing nurse I had. She was incredible #labor #birthstory #momsoftiktok #laboranddelivery #baby ♬ original sound – Carolina M |SAHM🩷🩵🩵

Thankfully, her baby was fine and is still now a ‘very chill baby’.
