A beloved Irish name has claimed the top spot for baby boys in the US yet again and we are not surprised. It’s a classic.

Irish names are extremely popular among Irish parents and while the harder-to-pronounce monikers rarely make waves outside Ireland, some of the easier-to-pronounce ones are gaining popularity around the world; think Maeve or Cillian over Síofra or Tadgh.

The most popular baby names in the US have been released and one classic Irish name for boys has been the top pick for American parents since 2017.

The name is Liam and it’s no surprise that it is favoured across the pond. It’s the type of name that really grows with a child, suiting both a little baby and a fully fledged adult.

Liam was formerly a nickname for William but it now stands alone, surpassing William in popularity in a lot of countries [although in the US William is still in the top 10].
