According to baby name consultant Jenn, who posts baby name advice on TikTok, has said that she predicts that the name Romy will soar in popularity this year.
She says that she is ‘keeping an eye’ on the name because she thinks it is ‘going to have a massive, massive climb in popularity’.
According to Jenn, the name is circulating a lot on social media and on baby name lists. It has also been chosen by some ‘minor celebrities’ for their babies, which then often ‘trickles down’ to the general public.
The name is also nice and short, something that the consultant says people are really seeking at the moment.

About the name Romy
The name Romy is of German and Latin origin. While it is mostly used as a girls’ name, it is actually gender neutral and is commonly believed to mean ‘dew of the sea (coming from Rosemary) or ‘citizen of Rome’ (coming from Roman).
This year, the name has risen in the UK, shooting up 51 places in popularity from last year and placing at number 195, according to Baby Centre. While it is less popular in Ireland, with just 17 baby girls and no boys given the name last year. So it could be a great choice for parents who want to get ahead of the trend.
