Rory McIlroy’s daughter had the best advice for her dad – kids really tell it like it is and that can be such a good thing!
The Irish golf star had the most adorable good luck charm with him as he cinched victory in the Masters in 2025, and a year on – and with another win to his name – it’s still the cutest thing we’ve seen.
Rory was crowned Masters champ on Sunday, with his wife Erica, daughter Poppy, and proud parents Rosie and Gerry, by his side in Augusta.
In the days after his victory, a video of the golfer talking about his daughter’s wise words have gone viral again, and honestly, kids have the best advice!

In a sit-down with Gold on CBS, Rory recounted how his daughter, who was then just four years old, sweetly reminded him of his talent ahead of the Masters.
He said: ‘I went last week to see Butch Harmon for a golf lesson, so I’m leaving for the airport last Wednesday morning and Poppy said to me “Dada where are you going?”
‘And I said, “I’m going to go for a golf lesson and I’ll be back in a couple of days, and she goes, “But Dada, you already know how to play golf.”

‘And I was like, that’s probably the best piece of advice I’ve gotten in the past three years.’
Rory was so taken with Poppy’s words that he had them engraved on the ball marker that he used when he won the Masters.
Poppy’s words were written in bright yellow font with her name and a love heart in pink.

By all accounts, Poppy also already knows how to play golf.
She stunned golf fans around the world during family day at the Masters by sinking an incredible putt with just the slightest tap of the club, much to the delight of her dad and Shane Lowry.
