Dermot Kennedy is incredibly private about personal life, but he has made some rare comments about his wife and daughter.
The 34-year-old has managed to keep his wife and little girl out of the spotlight, recently revealing that the family of three lives a peaceful life together in their woodland home on the Dublin border.
Dermot, who only recently revealed that he is a father, gave his reasons as to why he doesn’t speak about his family more. ‘I don’t see any positive to putting your private life out there. By doing that, you lose control,’ he told the outlet.

The Power Over Me singer revealed that he isn’t the only male in the house, as the family also has a pet dog named Tom. The pair spend a lot of time walking in the woods at Kilteel, which is located 6km from his native Rathcoole.
Dermot has confessed that he ‘wishes the woods were wilder’ as he longs to escape his usual routine of ‘cities, cities, cities,’ while performing.

‘I’m so caught up in my own head, and I’m always travelling somewhere – cities, cities, cities. It wasn’t like that when I was younger, because I grew up running around fields on the edge of Dublin. When I’m up there with him [Tom the terrier], I feel a massive kind of solace and comfort,’ he told the Sunday Independent.
Dermot also opened up about renovating his home as he appeared on The Tommy Tiernan Show on Saturday night. He joked that the house is as ‘Hobbity as you can get it’ while keeping its location vague.

‘It is Dublin, barely. It’s sort of like Dublin, Kildare, and Wicklow,’ he told the comedian. ‘My favourite book I ever came across when I was a kid was The Hobbit, and I was just like, “Oh man, I want to live in that.”‘
‘And then to some degree I kind of feel like I did a bit, and the forest is there,’ he laughed.
