Turning 50 may be a milestone that some people dread, but not presenter Anna Daly, who is reflecting on why she is grateful.

Embracing a new decade, Anna celebrated child-free at House Bar in Dublin over the weekend, where she was joined by a host of famous friends to celebrate.

Looking to the future, Anna has one rule that she intends to abide by, something that was passed down to her.

Speaking to EVOKE, she shared how she really felt about hitting this milestone.

‘I don’t really care about a number; it doesn’t bother me. I just feel, if we’re lucky enough to be happy and healthy, and it’s so cheesy, but surrounded by good friends, good family. I have positive relationships and three healthy kids. I feel lucky, and why wouldn’t I celebrate it?’

With time comes change, be it physically or mentally. While she still feels 35, she has stopped allowing that little voice (that everyone has) in her head to focus on any flaws she may feel she has.

And the proof was in the pudding, as she wouldn’t share what she didn’t like about herself.

‘To be honest with you, I think when you start highlighting things, and this is a rule that my mom came up with years ago. She often says stop telling people your flaws.

‘All of these women I’ve heard saying to me over the years, ‘I’m worried about this, I’m worried about that, my weight, my wrinkles, my hair, you know, all those things. I have to remind myself that models, presenters, mom friends are like gorgeous women who look amazing, and they all have the same hangups…We can be really hard on ourselves, and we need to stop.’

Even though the star was not celebrating her actual birthday until April 21, she made sure to go out with a bang over the weekend and let her hair down for the occasion.

Her party was for her friends from all corners of her life. Those she grew up with, those whom she worked with on Ireland AM, and neighbours. Looking back, she said the night was something rare, where so many people she loved and admired came together for her special occasion.

Laughing, she stated how ‘It’s the bringing together of the most unlikely people who end up like Sarah Morrissey (Irish model) talking to my dad about the 1950s Man United team that kind of stuff makes me laugh so much.’

Looking forward to the future, while she is a busy mum with three growing boys, work will not take a backseat. Regularly filling in on Newstalk, she is working on some ideas and plans with RTÉ.

Some slow down at 50, but that won’t be Anna- life will be as exciting and fun-filled as always – age is, of course, only a number!
