Nicky Byrne has stumbled across a precious memory of his beloved dad, who passed away 15 years ago.
The Westlife singer’s father, also named Nicky, died suddenly at work in November 2009, following a heart attack at the age of just 60 years old.
However, Nicky accidently came across old images of his late father, Nicky Senior, writing: ‘Found my dad on Google Maps outside his job in June 2009, enjoying the Dublin sunshine.’

He continued: ‘Crazy but great to see again. This is Summer 2009 and five months before my dad passed. Here he is standing on the corner of Kildare Street/School House Lane probably wondering what the hell that Google Car with all the cameras is driving past.’
Nicky has often spoken about his close bond with his father, telling Brian Dowling on his Death Becomes Him podcast: ‘My dad was my best friend.’
The Westlife singer believes he got his talent for entertaining from his dad, saying: ‘He was like Mr Showbiz in our local area,’ he said. ‘My dad was a lead singer in a band. His band was Nicky and Studs. He did weddings, dinner dances, funerals all my life.
‘He’d come home from being a painter decorator, shower and get into a red suit on a Monday and do somebody’s wedding, dinner dance on a Tuesday in a blue suit.

‘I think I took that side of it from him.’
