2FM star Carl Mullan has said he has ‘extra appreciation’ for his job at RTÉ – saying it suits his ‘fairly full on’ family life.
The RTÉ star and his wife, Aisling, are parents to Daibhí, who will turn five this summer, Éala, who is almost three, and Béibhínn, who is 18 months old.
The Dubliner has worked at RTÉ for about 13 years, beginning his career in 2013 as a media content coordinator before transitioning to digital radio, reporting, and eventually hosting the flagship RTÉ 2fm’s Breakfast Show.
Chatting about his family, Carl said: ‘It’s fairly full on but they’re at a really good craic stage now. It’s chaos, but it’s one of those things – I don’t know if other parents feel like this, but it’s so easy to wish it away because it’s so busy and so manic and you’re sometimes so overwhelmed with it.’

‘Life turns into this constant struggle of trying to succeed in your career, but also making sure you succeed as a parent,’ he added to RSVP Magazine.
But Carl said he would never want to wish his life away: ‘I know, without a shadow of a doubt, fast forward five years from now and I’d sell my house to bring myself back here.’
Carl, who was speaking ahead of Amazon’s The Grand Stretch campaign, which runs from June 23-26, said his 2FM Breakfast job is ‘perfect’ for his family life right now.
He co-hosts the show with Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner, and he said it’s the job he has always wanted.
Carl explained that because of the early starts, he can be home in the afternoon and get lots of time with his young family.
‘I love my job and it’s a job I’ve always wanted, but now I have this extra appreciation for it because it really suits my life,’ he said. ‘For us as a family, it’s an absolute blessing.’
