We love it when Penneys comes up trump with the designer dupe of dreams.
Trying to get your summer holiday wardrobe in place without spending an arm and a leg? Same!
Which is why I immediately ran to my local Penneys earlier this week when I saw one of their latest drops – this simple, yet incredibly versatile white midi-length skirt which bears uncanny resemblance to a designer one I have had my eye on for the longest time.

The cotton- and linen-blend skirt will literally go with everything else I am packing in my suitcase, and will look as good worn over my bathing suit as it will paired with a t-shirt and denim jacket for some city sightseeing, or with a silk cami and strappy sandals for an evening meal out.

According to the Penneys website, the skirt will go with everything.
‘The waistband with an adjustable tie helps you find your best fit, while the softly flared shape moves nicely as you walk.’
They added:
‘A staple skirt you’ll reach for on repeat.
Saving, not splurging thanks to Penneys skirt
In fact, I will argue that this Penneys skirt has just saved me close to €300, as I no longer have to order a designer skirt I have been lusting after from California-based brand Doen.
Take a look – and tell me it is not the most gorgeous and boho-style summer skirt you have ever seen?

The now-viral Sebastiane skirt caught my eye a couple of years ago, as I thought it was the most perfect summer skirt ever made, but the price tag (€288) had me thinking about whether or not to pull the trigger.
However, the skirt kept popping up in my ‘for your’ feed everywhere, as well as all over Pinterest, and honestly, I have been so close to ordering it several times.

I love how breezy it looks, and how it is just one of those classic summer looks that I just felt I would keep coming back to, summer after summer.
Here is how Doen describes the skirt on their website:
‘Crisp organic cotton poplin, the Sebastiane Skirt, a forever-favorite of our styling team, features a high waist, an A-line silhouette graced with horizontal tiered pintucks, and an ankle-grazing hemline trimmed with scallop eyelet embroidery for a touch of romance.’
The added:
‘An invisible side zipper with a hook-and-eye closure creates the perfect fit. The perfect all-season skirt, we love the Sebastiane paired with knee-high boots and a voluminous knit or cozy cardigan in the winter—and with a sweet pointelle tee and sandals in warmer months.’

And yet, I still love the Doen skirt – but at almost €300, it is not a purchase I can just order willy-nilly, much as I wish that my budget was of that sort.
However, it might be one of those purchases I save up for – or start dropping some heavy hints about as my birthday looms…

And in the meantime, I am delighted with my €14 Penneys skirt, that if not identical, certainly has that same vibe as the Doen skirt, and that can be styled in much the same ways as the much more expensive designer one.
A win for Penneys, I think – and for my overall holiday budget too!
