A mum has revealed the way she helps her daughter deal with ear pain on flights and it’s definitely worth taking note of ahead of the summer.
Many of us will be jetting off in the coming months, which is such an exciting time, and as parents, we definitely deserve the break – although how peaceful really is a holiday with kids?!
Nonetheless, it’s something for everyone to look forward to, and once you’re actually there, it’s just lovely. Flights with kids, though, that’s another story. Trying to entertain tired, cranky and hungry kids is a task and a half, especially when we are tired, cranky and hungry ourselves!
And if your child suffers from ear pain on flights, it can make things a whole lot harder. Your ears will generally ‘pop’ on a flight due to the change in pressure and for most children it can be managed by feeding them or giving them something, such as a lollipop or hard sweet, to suck on (provided they are old enough so it’s not a choking hazard!).
However, for some children, this doesn’t cut it and another solution is needed.

Game-changing tip for ear pain
A mum has shared a tip which was given to her by a flight attendant, and she claims it is a game-changer for helping kids with ear pain.
Mum-of-three Myriam Sandler, who runs the Instagram account Mother Could, was asked by a follower for tips on how to help with her child’s ear pain and she was happy to help.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Myriam shared a photo of her own daughter on a plane with her ear over a paper cup.
She said that a flight attendant had shared the tip with her and it has been so helpful. She said that all you ahve to do is ask for a cup of hot water (‘about two fingers full’) and add a paper towl to it.
‘Have your little one gently rest their ear next to it [as seen in the photo below]. The steam helps so much’.

Will you be trying this on your next flight? We know we will!
